Super Quick Snacks for the Aperitif

The super quick snacks for the aperitif are irresistible puff pastry squares, easy and fast to prepare.

With just two sheets of puff pastry and a few other ingredients, you’ll get over 100 snacks ready to be served in no time! Very easy to make, they are perfect to accompany the aperitif, but also to enrich the buffet of a party, to munch in front of the TV, etc.

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 3.4 oz tomato sauce
  • 1.8 oz grana cheese (grated)
  • 1.1 oz scamorza cheese (grated)
  • oregano
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Preparation of Super Quick Snacks for the Aperitif

  • Put the tomato sauce in a small bowl and season it with a drizzle of oil, salt, and oregano.
    Unroll the first sheet of puff pastry and place it directly on the baking tray, leaving it on the parchment paper it comes with.

  • Spread the seasoned tomato sauce on the pastry using the back of a spoon until covering the entire surface.
    Sprinkle with the grated grana and scamorza cheese and cover with the other sheet of pastry, matching them perfectly.
    Place the tray in the fridge and let it rest for fifteen minutes, then take it out and use a sharp smooth-edged knife to cut the prepared rectangle into horizontal and vertical strips down to the bottom of the pastry, to get squares of one or two centimeters per side (do not separate them yet, you’ll do so after baking).

  • Put the tray back in the fridge for another ten minutes and in the meantime preheat the oven on static mode to 392°F.
    When the oven is ready, bake the tray and let it cook for fifteen minutes, then lower the temperature to 356°F and bake for another ten minutes until golden.
    Take it out, let it cool completely, separate the super quick snacks for the aperitif, and serve them.
