Apple Pie

in

There are scents that know how to take you back in time, even if only for an instant. For me, it’s the smell of freshly baked apple pie. Every time I make it, it feels like I’m a child again, in the kitchen with my grandmother who calmly stirred the batter, telling stories.
Today that recipe has become mine, with a few personal touches: a bit of lemon zest for freshness, a pinch of cinnamon to wrap everything in an irresistible aroma, and sweet, juicy apples that make each slice soft and moist to perfection.
It’s a simple, wholesome cake, made with ingredients we always have at home.

Perfect for breakfast, to accompany a steaming cup of tea, or to enjoy on a rainy afternoon.
A homemade apple pie that tastes like home, affection, and little traditions to pass on. 🍎💛

Ingredients

  • 3 apples
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2 pinches ground cinnamon

Tools

  • 1 Springform Pan
  • 1 Electric Whisk

Steps

  • Prepare the apples
Peel the apples, remove the core, and dice two of them. Slice the third apple thinly to decorate the surface. Drizzle everything with a bit of lemon juice to prevent browning and set them aside.
    Prepare the batter
In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until you get a light and fluffy mixture. Add the melted butter, now cooled, then add the milk and lemon zest.
    Add the dry ingredients
Sift the flour with the baking powder, add a pinch of salt, and the cinnamon. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, stirring with a spatula until you get a smooth and homogeneous batter.
    Add the apples
Add the diced apples and gently fold them into the batter. Pour everything into a greased and floured 9-inch pan, leveling the surface.
    Decorate and bake
Arrange the apple slices harmoniously on the surface and sprinkle with some brown sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 320°F for about 40–45 minutes, until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    Cool and serve
Let the cake cool in the pan, then transfer it to a wire rack. Serve at room temperature, perhaps with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The apple pie stays soft for 2–3 days under a glass dome or well covered at room temperature.
