  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Preparation time: 30 Minutes
  • Portions: 12
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Saints, All seasons

Ingredients

  • 4 whole eggs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 cup potato starch
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp peanut oil
  • to taste vanilla flavoring
  • 7 oz cocoa spread

Tools

  • 1 Electric whisk
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Baking tray

Steps

  • 1. Prepare the base
In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar for at least 10 minutes, until you get a light and frothy mixture. Add the vanilla and a pinch of salt.
Sift together the flour and the starch, then gently incorporate them into the egg mixture, folding from the bottom up to avoid deflation.

    2. Bake the base
Pour the batter onto a rectangular baking tray (12×10 inches) lined with parchment paper and level the surface well. Bake in a static oven at 350°F for about 15 minutes (or 340°F in a fan oven for 12 minutes).
The base should be golden but soft.
Remove from oven and let cool completely.

    3. Fill the slices
Cut the base into two equal parts. Spread the chocolate cream (or jam) on one half and then cover with the other, pressing lightly to adhere well.
Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, so it will be easier to cut the slices without breaking them.

    4. Cut and cover
With a sharp knife, cut regular rectangles (about 1.5×3 inches).
Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler with a teaspoon of vegetable oil, then cover the surface of the slices with the help of a spoon or a spatula. Alternatively, use the spread.

    5. Let cool
Let the chocolate solidify at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
Your homemade little slices are ready: soft, delicious, and irresistible!

You can use hazelnut cream, pistachio, or whipped cream to vary the filling.

For a lighter version, replace part of the flour with whole wheat flour.
