Ingredients

  • 3 eggs (whole)
  • 3/8 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups Nutella®

Steps

  • To prepare the Nutella roll, start with the eggs: crack them into a large bowl, add the sugar, and beat with an electric whisk until you get a light, fluffy, and frothy mixture. At this point, sift the flour and gradually fold it in, gently mixing from bottom to top with a spatula to avoid deflating the mixture. Add the oil.
    Line a baking sheet (about 11.8 x 15.75 inches) with parchment paper and pour the batter, leveling it evenly. Alternatively, use the appropriate silicone mold.

    Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 8–10 minutes: the surface should be slightly golden but still soft.
    Once baked, remove the sponge cake from the oven and immediately turn it over onto a clean, slightly damp cloth; carefully remove the parchment paper and roll the cake while it is still warm, using the cloth to help.

    Let it cool completely: this step will prevent the roll from breaking.
    When the sponge cake is cold, carefully unroll it and fill it with a generous layer of Nutella, spreading it evenly.

    Roll the cake again, this time without the cloth, wrap it in plastic wrap, and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
    Before serving, remove the plastic wrap, sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired, slice, and enjoy its irresistible goodness!
