Often when asked “Mom, what delicious dish are you making?” it becomes difficult to respond every evening with an original dish. I tried this Flatbread Pie and found it delicious. It certainly isn’t among the lightest recipes, but it’s very tasty.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 1 Hour
- Cooking time: 30 Minutes
- Portions: 6 servings
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 6 Flatbreads
- 9 oz Emmentaler (sliced)
- 12 oz Cooked ham
- 4 Eggs
- 1 cup Cream (for cooking)
- 2 tbsps Milk
- to taste Black pepper
- to taste Salt
- to taste Nutmeg
- 2 tbsps Parmesan cheese (grated)
Preparation
Whisk the eggs, cream, milk, and Parmesan in a bowl, seasoning with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
Butter a baking dish and place one flatbread at the bottom, spread about 3 tablespoons of the egg mixture on top, smoothing it with a spatula, and layer slices of ham and Emmental on top.
Continue layering with flatbread, egg mixture, ham, and Emmental until all 6 flatbreads are used. Pour the remaining mixture on the last layer and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake in a fan oven at 350°F for about 30 minutes
Notes
I recommend using thin flatbreads so that the taste of the ingredients is more pronounced.
