- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 2 sandwiches
- Cooking methods: No-cook
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 4 slices white bread (without crust)
- 4 slices cooked ham
- 1.8 oz mascarpone (and gorgonzola)
- to taste sweet paprika
- 1 walnut (whole)
- 1 walnut (chopped)
Preparation
Cut four hearts out of the white bread using a heart-shaped cutter (size 3.75 in x 3.75 in).
Spread one or two teaspoons of mascarpone and gorgonzola on a heart, sprinkle with half a chopped walnut, cut two hearts from the slice of ham using the cutter, and place them on top of the bread heart.
Close everything with another bread heart. Now spread one or two teaspoons of gorgonzola on the second slice, use a sieve to cover the surface with sweet paprika, and complete by placing half a walnut on top of the sandwich.
To prepare the second sandwich, repeat the above steps.
Tips/advice
If you don’t have a cutter, you can freehand cut the heart shape with a sharp knife, perhaps first drawing the heart shape on parchment paper to place on the white bread slice.
If you don’t like the taste of mascarpone and gorgonzola, you can use fresh spreadable cheese.
I preferred to use gorgonzola and mascarpone as they have a milder flavor than gorgonzola alone.
