How to: Cut Lemon Peels

In many recipes, it is necessary to use citrus peel, sometimes it is complicated to obtain it, and for this reason, I have tried to make this task easier with some photos! Here is explained in this How to: Cut Lemon Peels method!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 1 lemon
  • Cooking methods: No cooking
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon

Tools

  • 1 Knife (or very sharp paring knife)

Preparation

  • Take a lemon, wash the peel well.
If you also need the juice for your recipe, cut it in half horizontally.
Squeeze it using a citrus juicer and then proceed with cutting the peel.

  • Cut just the two ends of the lemon.
Place the lemon as shown in the figure and start peeling it using a very sharp knife following the direction of the arrow.
It doesn’t matter if a small white part remains attached to the inside of the peel.
Continue like this over the entire surface of the lemon.

  • At this point try to remove the remaining white part with a sharp knife.
Stack the peels on top of each other and then cut them into thin strips.
Then cut the strips into very small squares.

Suggestions/Advice

You can also use a zester or a peeler, but the perfect cut can only be achieved with a well-sharpened curved knife
