I have a deep love for the oven; I would keep it on all the time, both in summer and winter. This summer it broke, and we couldn’t find the replacement to fix it (it was also August): it was a tragedy! I had so many dishes in mind to prepare, but I couldn’t cook any of them! So even when it comes to pasta, the story doesn’t change: lasagna with squash, ground beef, and sausage is an excellent main course, obviously baked!

- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 45 Minutes
- Portions: 6/8 people
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 12 sheets egg lasagna (dried dim. 6.7×3.5 inches)
- 18 oz squash (cleaned)
- 5 oz sausage (sausage meat)
- 9 oz beef (ground)
- 9 fl oz béchamel (for the recipe click on the link)
- 4.4 oz mozzarella
- 1 onion (small about 1.8 oz)
- 3.5 oz bacon (sliced)
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- to taste olive oil
- to taste fine salt
Preparation
Wash the squash well, remove the skin (I usually use a potato peeler), slice it, and then cut into fairly small cubes.
Put a bit of oil, the finely chopped onion, and the squash in a large pan. Add the ground beef, sausage meat, a glass of water, and cook for about 20 minutes.
Check that the squash is well cooked and adjust the salt if necessary.
Spread a thin layer of béchamel on a rectangular baking dish size 12.2 x 9.1 inches.
Now cover with a layer of lasagna, then add a layer of the squash mixture, some of the diced mozzarella, two slices of bacon (previously browned in a pan) cut into small pieces, a bit of béchamel (for the recipe click on the link), and a generous sprinkling of grated Parmesan cheese.
Make another layer of lasagna and repeat the sequence of ingredients as above.
Make a final layer of lasagna, cover with the squash mixture, add the béchamel, and sprinkle with Parmesan. Bake at 356°F for 40 minutes.
I usually use packaged dried lasagna, but you can also use homemade fresh lasagna, you can find the recipe here.
