This Puff Pastry and Apple Wreath is ideal for those who don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen and are looking for a tasty and quick dessert to prepare. It’s perfect for any occasion, and the decorations you choose will make the difference. For Christmas, I chose candied cherries and wafer leaves, a sprinkle of powdered sugar on the edge, and it’s ready. You can decide to peel the apples or leave them with the skin on; in this case, I like to alternate red-skinned apples with green ones to create a bit of contrast.

- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 30 Minutes
- Portions: 6/8 people
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Christmas
Ingredients
- 1 puff pastry (each round weighing 8 oz)
- 2 apples (each weighing 5 oz)
- 5 tablespoons plum jam (about 10 oz)
- to taste sugar
- to taste candied cherries (for decoration)
- to taste wafer (leaves, for decoration)
- to taste powdered sugar (for decoration)
Steps
Unroll the round puff pastry directly onto the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the jam evenly over it, leaving the center and about 3/4 inch of the edge empty.
Wash the apples, you can choose to peel them or keep the skin on. In this case, I usually choose two different colored apples, one red and one green to create a contrast on the surface.
Cut the apples into slices, not too thin.
Now start arranging the apple slices in a circle, starting from the outer edge.
Finish by making alternating circles of apples with different colored skins, if you chose not to peel them. Close the outer edge with small pleats towards the inside of the pastry.
Make a small cut in the center of the pastry and use your hands to widen it, bringing the edges towards the apples. Sprinkle the surface with sugar.
Bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes.
You can enjoy it as is or decorate it according to the occasion for which you are preparing it.
I chose candied cherries, wafer leaves, a bit of powdered sugar on the edges, as I prepared it during the Christmas season.
