Shrimp wrapped in bacon with flavored breadcrumbs is a quick second course to prepare, with a unique taste. We love them and usually prepare them in the evening, accompanied by fresh vegetables. I guarantee that you won’t stop making them once you’ve tried them!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Medium
- Preparation time: 20 Minutes
- Portions: 4 people
- Cooking methods: Stovetop
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 32 Shrimp (about 2 lbs)
- 16 slices Bacon (about 7 oz)
- 4 tablespoons Breadcrumbs (about 3 oz)
- 2 teaspoons Curry
- 4 teaspoons Chives (dried)
- to taste Butter (spray)
Preparation
Clean the shrimp, removing the heads, shells, and the black vein.
Cut the bacon slices in half, then wrap half a slice of bacon around each shrimp.
Arrange the shrimp in a circle on a plate about 11 inches in diameter.
In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, curry, and chives, mixing the ingredients well so they are evenly distributed.
Once all the shrimp are arranged, sprinkle them with half of the flavored breadcrumbs.
Spray a pan about 11 inches in diameter with nonstick butter spray; once the pan is hot, place the shrimp inside by flipping the plate, so the side without breadcrumbs is on top.
Remove the plate from the top using two forks to lift it off.
Sprinkle with the remaining flavored breadcrumbs, cook over moderate heat for about 10 minutes.
Now flip the shrimp using the same technique used before to place them in the pan: place the plate over the pan, turn the shrimp onto the plate, with another plate flip them with the side to be cooked facing up, return to the pan and continue cooking.
Cook for another 10 minutes.
Serve hot.
Suggestions/Tips
For the breading, you can use different flavors, such as rosemary, sage, or for a more exotic taste, poppy seeds or sesame seeds.
If you want, you can also bake them, but there’s a risk they will become drier and the breading won’t be as crispy. This is because to brown the breadcrumbs, you would need to use the grill, which would make the shrimp a bit drier.
If you have leftover egg and breadcrumbs, mix them together in a bowl and make a tasty omelet.
