A fun idea for Halloween, quick to make and perfect for the table instead of bread. Small Snake Breadsticks to munch on during dinner. Here are some sweet recipes to complete the meal:
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Rest time: 2 Hours
- Preparation time: 45 Minutes
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Halloween
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 0.2 oz fresh yeast
- 1 tsp fine salt
- 24 juniper berries
- to taste coarse salt
- to taste olive oil
Steps
To start, prepare the starter by placing a bit of warm water from the total in a glass, the yeast, a tablespoon of flour (also from the total), and a tablespoon of sugar. Mix and let it act for a few minutes until a nice foam forms.
On a work surface, place the flour in a mound, add the starter, warm water, and olive oil, and start kneading. Now add the salt and knead until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough. Place it in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and a cloth, and let it rise for at least two hours in a dry and draft-free place.
The dough should at least double in size.
Once risen, cut into strips, about 12.
Stretch and twist them with your fingers. Try to point the nose and add two juniper berries as eyes.
Brush with a bit of olive oil, sprinkle coarse salt on the surface, and bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes.
Now just enjoy them!
Tips and Advice
Do not overcook them, or they will become very crunchy.
