in

Spiced Fried Chicken Strips are a really tasty main course. You can vary the spices according to your preferences; I used the ones we prefer. If you like, you can also do a second breading, but they will be crispy even with just one.

  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 2.2 lbs chicken breast
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups kefir (plain)
  • 4 tsp cumin (seeds)
  • 4 tsp paprika (hot (or sweet paprika))
  • 4 tsp chives
  • 4 tsp garam masala
  • to taste black pepper (ground)
  • to taste fine salt

Steps

  • Cut the chicken breast into thin strips.

  • Place the chicken strips in a bowl.

  • Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon of hot paprika, 1 teaspoon of chives and 1 teaspoon of garam masala. Season with a little ground black pepper to taste and 2 teaspoons of fine salt. Of course you can add or reduce the spices according to your preference.

  • Pour in the kefir.

  • Mix well and let rest for about half an hour.

  • Meanwhile, put the flour in a container and season it with 3 teaspoons of cumin seeds, 3 teaspoons of hot paprika, 3 teaspoons of chives, 3 teaspoons of garam masala and a little ground black pepper. Mix well so the ingredients are evenly combined. Of course you can add or reduce the spices according to your taste.

  • At this point, take the chicken strips.

  • Coat them well in the spiced flour. Put them one at a time into the flour, making sure it sticks well to the meat. For some I did a double breading, passing them again through the spiced kefir and then back into the flour.

  • In a pan, add plenty of vegetable oil and heat it to frying temperature.

  • Take each individual strip.

  • Place the floured strips into the hot oil.

  • Cook them until golden brown.

  • Then place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
