  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 2 People
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Seasons

Ingredients

  • 12 oz carrots (cleaned are about 8.8 oz)
  • 5.3 oz onion (cleaned)
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 pinch fine salt

Steps

  • Wash, clean, and finely slice the onion.

  • Melt the butter in a pan, then add the previously sliced onion.

  • Wash, peel, and cut the carrots into not too thick slices. Choose ones that are not too big, making slicing easier.

  • Once the onion is slightly softened, add the carrots.

  • Cook them for about a minute, then add the water.

  • Now add the soy sauce, ginger, and salt.

  • Cover with a lid and cook for about 10-15 minutes on medium heat. Occasionally check that the water does not dry out and stir from time to time.

  • When the carrots are quite soft, remove the lid and let all the water evaporate. Let them brown slightly and serve hot!

Tips and Advice

Use smaller carrots, it’s easier to make slices.

You can use oil instead of butter, but the taste won’t be the same.
