Yogurt Bars with Canned Fruit

Yogurt bars with canned fruit are a delicious dessert, perfect to make on these very hot days, no oven, no stove, just fruit and yogurt. You can also use fresh fruit, the one you like best, once washed and dried you can add it to the yogurt. I love frozen yogurt bars and with the fruit, they are healthy. Here are more fresh dessert recipes to prepare quickly with yogurt:

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Rest time: 5 Hours
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: About 20 bars
  • Cooking methods: No baking
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 4.4 oz plain yogurt
  • 8.8 oz fruit salad (canned fruit)
  • 0.6 cup syrup (from canned fruit)
  • 6 candied cherries (optional)
  • 6 teaspoons jam (cranberry)

Steps

  • Place the yogurt in a bowl.

  • Add both the canned fruit and the syrup from the container to the yogurt. Mix well. Line a square baking pan measuring 8 inches (20 cm) on each side with a sheet of parchment paper that you have slightly moistened and wrung out. Pour the mixture into the pan.

  • Add some candied cherries (optional), and a few teaspoons of your chosen jam. I used cranberry jam, which is slightly tart and contrasts with the sweet taste of the fruit salad.

  • Level the ingredients, place the pan in the freezer for at least 5 hours.

  • Warm the edges of the pan slightly with your hands to make it easier to remove the parchment paper with its contents. Carefully remove the parchment paper and cut the yogurt into bars in the shape and size you prefer. With the pan I chose, the height of the bars will be about 0.6 inches (1.5 cm), if you prefer them thinner use a larger pan.

Tips and Suggestions

To prepare these tasty Yogurt Bars with Canned Fruit I used canned fruit, but you can also use fresh fruit, well washed and dried.

Also, instead of cranberry jam, you can add whichever you prefer. I chose this one as it gives a note of acidity to the fruit salad, which is usually quite sweet.

The bars will be about 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) high, if you want them thinner use a larger pan.
