Sedanini, canned tuna in oil and bell peppers

Sometimes it takes little to make a tasty dish, 2 bell peppers and canned tuna, and you’re done. We used homemade tuna, but obviously if not available you can use good canned tuna, we suggest buying tuna in a glass jar from a good brand. Preferably from small artisanal companies, where you can find a quality product.

  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 14 oz ridged sedanini
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 9 oz canned tuna in oil
  • 1 red onion
  • to taste salt
  • white pepper
  • extra virgin olive oil

Steps

  • Let’s put the water for the pasta and cut the bell peppers into julienne and the onion into relatively thick slices. In a pan, add 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and sauté the onion; as soon as it starts to wilt, add the bell peppers, lower the heat, and cook covered with a lid. Remove the tuna from the oil and flake it coarsely with a fork. Once the bell peppers have wilted, add the tuna and continue cooking by adding a few tablespoons of the tuna’s reserved oil.
Check the pasta cooking, and when it’s still a bit undercooked, pour it into the pan and finish cooking by adding a little cooking water. Adjust salt and pepper and serve immediately!
