Basic Panna Cotta Recipe

Basic panna cotta recipe. A dessert typical of Italian tradition with a delicate flavor and a soft, velvety texture.

With this recipe, we will prepare the basic version which you can personalize according to your tastes. You can enrich it with fruit or caramel or try the coffee version.

I added simple chocolate shavings but it is delicious even plain. Serve it as a dessert after dinner or as a spoon dessert for a delicious snack.

Ingredients

  • Half quart heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp gelatin sheets
  • 3 tbsps sugar
  • 1 pod vanilla

Steps

  • First, soak the gelatin sheet in cold water

  • In a pot, pour the cream, add the sugar, and mix well.

    Cut the vanilla pod in half and scrape the seeds with the tip of a knife. Add them along with the pod to the pot with cream and sugar.

  • Place on the stove and heat until just before boiling. Turn off the heat and remove the vanilla pod.

    Squeeze the gelatin and add it to the cream. Stir with a whisk to dissolve well.

  • Now pour the panna cotta into dessert glasses and cover them with aluminum foil. Let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, until set.

  • Our panna cotta is ready. To make it more delicious, I’ve added dark chocolate shavings.
