Margherita Pizza in a Pan: The Perfect Recipe for the WORLD Pizza Day 2026
Today is World Pizza Day 2026, one of those occasions that really unites everyone. Pizza is the perfect solution whenever we’re unsure about what to prepare: it appeals to both young and old, it’s convivial, and it immediately brings the scent of home.
To celebrate this great course of Italian tradition, I chose the simplest and most beloved version of all: homemade margherita pizza. Just a few quality ingredients, a straightforward preparation accessible to everyone, and the result is always satisfying.
Perfect for preparing in a pan, ideal for a special dinner or to celebrate Pizza Day properly, this margherita is proof that simplicity and good raw materials always result in a delicious pizza.

Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1.2 cups water (lukewarm)
- 0.5 oz fresh yeast
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Half tablespoon salt
- 1.5 cups tomato sauce
- 8 oz mozzarella
- to taste oregano
- to taste salt

Steps
Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water. Pour the flour into a large bowl, add the water little by little and start mixing. Add the oil and finally the salt. Knead until you get a smooth and elastic dough.
Form a ball, cover and let rise for about 2 hours, until the volume doubles.
Divide the dough into 2 equal pieces. Lightly grease the round pans and spread each piece starting from the center.
Spread the tomato sauce on both pizzas, season with a pinch of salt and a drizzle of oil. Add the shredded mozzarella and complete with oregano or basil.
Bake in a preheated static oven at 428°F for 15–18 minutes, until the base is golden and the mozzarella is well melted.Take out of the oven, add a drizzle of raw oil, and serve immediately.

After allowing it to cool completely, the pizza can be kept for 1 day covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container.
Or in the refrigerator:
It can be stored for up to 2 days, always covered, and reheated in the oven at 356°F or in an air fryer for a few minutes before consuming.
