Pan-Fried Pleurotus Mushrooms
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Medium
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Autumn, All seasons

Ingredients

  • 1.3 lbs Pleurotus mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste chili pepper (optional)

Tools

  • Pan
  • Lid
  • Wooden spoon
  • Knife

Steps

  • Clean the Pleurotus mushrooms using a damp cloth or kitchen paper to remove any dirt. I advise against washing them under running water, as they might absorb too much.

Cut the bottom part of the stem and divide the larger mushrooms into smaller pieces.

  • In a large pan, heat the extra virgin olive oil. Add the whole garlic cloves and let them brown over medium-low heat until golden, being careful not to burn them.

Add the Pleurotus mushrooms and stir well to flavor them with the oil and garlic. Cook over medium-high heat for about 10/15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The mushrooms will release some water during cooking, which will evaporate by the end.

Season with salt and pepper to taste, and, if desired, add a bit of chili pepper.

  • Our pan-fried Pleurotus mushrooms are ready. Enjoy your meal!
