Savory pie with sausage and broccoli rabe. A tasty rustic pie perfect to enjoy both hot and cold.
This recipe is very easy and quick to prepare. With very few ingredients, in just over half an hour you will have a perfect dish on the table that serves as a main course, but it is also great for enhancing a buffet. It’s an excellent alternative to the classic Rustic Pie with Ricotta and Spinach or the Savory Pie with Zucchini and Bacon, as well as the Rustic Pie with Sausage and Stracchino.
You can also prepare it the day before and heat it up right before serving.
In any case, I recommend making two because it will be a hit, and I’m sure they’ll ask for seconds. And if you don’t have puff pastry, shortcrust pastry works just fine.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)
Can I substitute the broccoli rabe with another vegetable?
Yes! If you can’t find broccoli rabe, you can use turnip greens, spinach, chard, or even kale. The taste will be slightly different but still delicious.
What type of sausage is best to use?
It’s advisable to use fresh pork sausage, preferably slightly spiced (like Neapolitan). Avoid those that are too lean to keep the pie juicy.
What dough can I use instead of puff pastry?
You can use shortcrust pastry for a crunchier base or even a savory shortcrust pastry. Homemade dough is a great alternative if you want a more rustic result.
