Ingredients

  • 1 roll puff pastry
  • 2 zucchini (large)
  • 10.5 oz sausage
  • 1/4 white onion
  • 1 egg yolk
  • to taste poppy seeds
  • 3.5 oz provola cheese (grated)

Steps

  • Prepare the filling

  • In a pan, heat some extra virgin olive oil and let the chopped onion soften.

  • Add the skinned sausage and thinly sliced zucchini, mix and cook for about 10 minutes. Adjust salt if necessary.

  • Prepare the savory strudel

  • Preheat the oven to 356 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Unroll a sheet of puff pastry, pierce the base and cut the sides as shown in the picture.

  • Arrange the sausage, zucchini, and grated provola in the center of the pastry.

  • Close the top and bottom of the strudel, then braid the strips folding them over themselves.

  • Place the strudel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the surface with the beaten egg yolk.

  • Decorate with poppy seeds and bake for 25/30 minutes until golden.

    If using the air fryer bake at 338 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20/25 minutes

  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your dinner!
