The baked orange chicken is a tasty and fragrant main dish that is very simple and quick to prepare, perfect to serve on special occasions or for a casual dinner with friends and family. It is nothing more than a variation of the orange roast I prepared last year for the Christmas holidays.
This year, I decided to offer a similar recipe by using chicken thighs. The recipe is very simple and requires a few minutes of marinating the thighs with oil, minced garlic, and rosemary. After the marinating time, the meat is arranged in a baking pan on top of orange slices, to which juice is added. In my version, I chose to bake the chicken in the oven, but if you prefer, you can also cook everything in a pan, keeping in mind that the cooking times are different.
The recipe for orange chicken thighs is very simple. In just a few minutes, you’ll bring to the table a tasty main dish with an orange fragrance that everyone will love, both young and old. Now let’s go to the kitchen because the baked orange chicken will be ready in a click!

Ingredients
- 6 chicken thighs
- 2 oranges
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- salt (to taste)
- pepper (to taste)
- rosemary (to taste)
Tools
- Bowl
- Cutting Board
- Knife
- Non-stick Baking Pan
Steps
Clean the garlic cloves, remove the germ, and chop them very finely. Then place the chicken thighs in a bowl and add the chopped garlic, dried chopped rosemary, though fresh will also work, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
Mix very well with your hands so that the meat is seasoned. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to marinate for half an hour. In the meantime, wash an orange thoroughly under water, dry it, and slice it into 1/4 inch thick rounds. It’s better if the orange is untreated since the peel will also be used. Extract the juice from the other orange and set it aside.
Next, distribute the orange slices in the baking pan and place the chicken thighs on top. Then add the orange juice and bake in the oven at 480°F for 40 minutes with static mode and another 10 minutes with fan mode.
After the cooking time, remove the chicken from the oven and serve it, accompanied by roasted potatoes or a salad
Variations and Tips for Baked Orange Chicken
It’s best to serve baked orange chicken right after removing it from the oven. Alternatively, you can store it in the refrigerator for one or two days in a container with a lid.
