Mango Lassi, Refreshing Indian Drink

The mango lassi is a refreshing and cooling Indian-origin drink, ideal for hot days and enjoyable at any time. A popular beverage from the Indian subcontinent, made with yogurt, water, spices, and occasionally fruit. Often cumin or ground cardamom is added to make it less sweet, making it suitable to accompany meals. It is often served at the table as a drink to consume during main meals, as it is very refreshing and aids digestion.

Today, I propose the sweet version, perfect even for breakfast, with the addition of fruit, specifically mango. To prepare the mango lassi, very few ingredients are needed: yogurt, mango pulp, and cardamom. Instead of cardamom, you can also use cumin or add ginger.

A smoothie that can also be adapted for vegans and those lactose intolerant. Simply replace the regular yogurt with plant-based yogurt. Now, follow me to the kitchen because the mango lassi will be ready in a click! 😉

Variations and Tips

I recommend drinking the smoothie immediately, or you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 12 hours.

To give a more aromatic touch, you can add ground cinnamon before serving. Alternatively, you can replace the cardamom with coriander or fresh or powdered ginger.

For those intolerant or allergic to dairy, you can replace milk with plant-based drinks: rice or oat milk. For those with a sweet tooth, you can add fresh cream or chocolate chips.
