The puff pastry turnovers are a clever and indulgent recipe, perfect for an afternoon snack or a dessert for a dinner with friends. The recipe is so simple and quick to make that they are also perfect for those sudden sweet cravings when you don’t know how to satisfy them. The sweet turnovers are made with just three ingredients: puff pastry, strawberries and chocolate. I used dark chocolate, but you can also use milk chocolate, or a spreadable hazelnut cream. Either way you’ll get a very tasty result. Easier than that! Of course these sweet puff pastry leaves can be filled with anything else you like: for example chocolate pairs wonderfully with pear. Or you can add thin slices of apple and jam. Fill your turnovers with the ingredients you prefer and let your imagination run wild. A dusting of powdered sugar will make these strawberry and chocolate turnovers even more irresistible. Curious? Preparation of puff pastry turnovers with strawberries and chocolate
First, wash the strawberries, dry them thoroughly with paper towels and remove the green tops. Then slice them lengthwise.
Next, unroll the puff pastry and cut it into four rectangles. Then make cuts on both sides, opposite each other, leaving about 3/8 inch from the tips at the base. After that, braid the strips and prick the base with the tines of a fork.
On one half of each rectangle distribute the coarsely chopped chocolate and two or three slices of strawberry.
Finally, bake at 356°F for 15 minutes or until they reach the desired golden color. Obviously baking times are indicative because they depend on the type of oven you have.
The puff pastry turnovers with strawberries and chocolate are ready! Sprinkle a generous amount of powdered sugar and serve.
