A dough that you can make by hand as I did, or if you prefer, with the help of a mixer. This brioche will stay soft for several days and you can also prepare it for the children’s snack.

The dough is prepared with my basic brioche recipe. Once doubled in volume, it is divided into balls to which hazelnut spread is added. Once placed in a star-shaped mold, it is baked in the oven. Of course, you can also fill the Danubio brioche with jam, pistachio cream, or custard. The final result will be a soft and delicious brioche, to bring to the table during the Christmas holidays. Preparation of Sweet Christmas Star Danubio

  • Preparing the star-shaped brioche bread is very simple, although it may require some time. You can knead with a stand mixer or by hand as I did.

First, melt the butter in the microwave and let it cool. Then place the egg, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Alternatively, you can use untreated, well-washed orange zest. Then, mix with a spoon until these ingredients are well combined.

Next, incorporate the flour and the yeast and continue mixing with a spoon. Add the melted butter and salt and keep kneading first with a spoon and then, when the flour has absorbed all the liquids, with your hands until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough.

Place the dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 2 hours or until doubled.

  • After the rising time, take the dough and transfer it to a pastry board. Divide it into 6 portions of 110 g each and flatten them with your hands. Place a teaspoon of hazelnut spread in the center and close to form balls.

Then place each ball in the 500g star-shaped paper mold, with the closure facing downwards. Cover with plastic wrap or a clean cloth and let rise for another half an hour.

Take the mold where the brioche has risen and brush the surface with the egg yolk beaten with milk. Finally, bake the Danubio in a preheated static oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.
