Steps for Preparing Baked Trofie Pizzaiola Style

  • Prepare the béchamel by toasting the flour with the butter. Add the hot milk, salt, and nutmeg, and keep stirring to prevent lumps, cook until the béchamel thickens.

  • Prepare the tomato sauce by placing garlic and oil in a pan. Add the tomato sauce, salt, and basil and let it thicken until you have a dense and fragrant sauce. Cut the mozzarella into cubes.

  • Boil the trofie and drain them well al dente. Dress them with béchamel, sauce, and mozzarella, dried oregano, and mix well. Pour into a lasagna pan. Top with parmesan and butter flakes and bake at 356°F for about 25 minutes.
