  • 1 qt milk
  • 3.5 oz cornstarch
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 5.3 oz sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 0.6 cups coffee
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

Steps to Prepare Grandma’s Tile Cake

  • In a saucepan, place 4 egg yolks. Add the sugar and cornstarch. With the help of some milk, mix with the whisk until you get a cream. Pour the remaining milk, add the vanilla, and place it on the stove. Cook, always stirring, until the cream thickens. Cover with plastic wrap and let it cool.

  • Line a baking dish with plastic wrap. Add a layer of cream. Cover with biscuits soaked in coffee. Make more layers until the ingredients are finished. End with biscuits soaked in coffee. Place in the fridge for 3-4 hours.

  • Turn the dessert onto a cutting board or a plate. Remove the baking dish and plastic wrap. Decorate the desserts with pine nuts quickly toasted in the pan and powdered sugar. Serve.

Storage

Keep in the fridge for two to three days.
