Steps to Prepare Pizzaiola Puff Pastry Strudel

  • First, prepare the sauce. Coarsely chop the onion. Sauté it in a pan with extra virgin olive oil. Add the tomato sauce, salt, and pepper or chili pepper, if you like. Flavor with basil or oregano and let it thicken.

  • Unroll the puff pastry; I remove it from the fridge 5 minutes before using it. Spread with tomato sauce. Only on half (widthwise), place the cheese slices. Tightly roll only the part with cheese.

  • Make cuts in the remaining part of the dough to form fringes. Twist them two by two and place them on top of the rolled part. Bake in a static oven at 356°F and cook for 20-25 minutes.

Storage

You can store it for two or three days in the fridge.
