Ingredients for air fryer carnival donuts:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup natural water (at room temperature)
- 2 tbsps granulated sugar
- 1.5 tbsps vegetable oil
- 1 pinch fine salt
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- as needed granulated sugar (for sprinkling on the donuts)
Tools for carnival donuts:
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Air fryer Moulinex Easy Fry & Grill
- 1 Pastry board
Preparation and cooking of carnival donuts:
In a bowl, sift the flour, add the sugar and baking powder, and mix the ingredients well with a spoon.
Gradually add the water while stirring with a spoon, then add the vegetable oil, and finally a pinch of salt.
Work the mixture until it begins to thicken, then transfer it to a wooden pastry board and knead until smooth and homogeneous.
Form a ball and let it rest covered with a cloth for 5 minutes.
After the resting time, flour the pastry board and divide the dough into 4 parts.
Shape each part into a ball and then form disks about 5-6 inches, leaving the circumference thicker than the center.
Repeat the same process with the remaining dough pieces.
COOKING WITH AIR FRYER:
Place one carnival donut on the air fryer grill, sprinkle with granulated sugar, cook at 320°F for about 9 minutes until they start to brown, or you can cook for 6 minutes at 320°F and then grill for 3 minutes.
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can BAKE IN THE OVEN:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place the dough disks of the carnival donuts on it, sprinkle with granulated sugar, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10-12 minutes until puffed and golden.
Place the baked donuts on a serving plate, add a little granulated sugar, and serve immediately.
