Air Fryer Taralli, with Double Cooking

Air fryer taralli, with double cooking first boiled and then air fried, crispy and beautifully golden.

Taralli can be stored for several days inside a plastic bag or an airtight container.

With the same recipe, you can also make fennel ones by adding fennel seeds to the dough.

For this recipe, we used the new air fryer from COSORI with the door, on first use, we were impressed by the perfect cooking and the right golden color.

Air Fryer Taralli
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 30 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 20 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop, Air Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Seasons

Ingredients for Air Fryer Taralli:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3/4 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tsp fine salt

Tools for the Taralli:

  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Pastry Board

Steps for Preparing the Taralli in an Air Fryer:

  • In a large bowl, place the sifted flour, add the salt, pour in the extra virgin olive oil, and start mixing with a spoon. When they begin to combine, add the dry white wine and work the mixture until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough.
Form a ball, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.

  • After the resting time, transfer the dough to a floured pastry board, divide it into three parts, and with a piece of dough, make ropes as thick as your little finger.
Cut them to a length of 8 inches and join them by slightly overlapping and pressing the ends together (classic taralli shape).

  • Bring lightly salted water to a boil in a large pan, and when it boils, add the taralli, a few at a time to prevent sticking. When they float to the surface, use a slotted spoon to remove them and let them drain on a towel. Repeat this process with the remaining taralli.

Place the taralli a few at a time on the air fryer rack and cook them in batches at 356°F for about 20 minutes, until golden.

For this recipe, we used the new COSORI air fryer with a door, using the air fry program, which heats up in less than 2 minutes. Then a message appears on the display to insert the racks with the taralli.

Let the taralli cool before serving.
