Ingredients for caramelized bananas:
- 1 banana (large or 2 small)
- 6.5 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp butter
Tools for caramelized bananas:
- 1 Skillet
- 1 Knife
- 1 Spoon
Steps for preparing and cooking caramelized bananas:
For this recipe, we recommend using bananas that are not too ripe but not still green, a middle ground.
Remove the two ends of the banana (or use two small ones), peel it and remove the strings, and cut them into not too thin slices.
In a non-stick skillet, put the sugar and half the amount of water, turn on the gas to medium heat and melt the sugar by stirring with a wooden spoon. When the sugar is melted, do not stir anymore and let it cook until the sugar starts to turn golden, add the butter and let it melt, stirring the preparation with a wooden spoon or spatula.
When the butter is melted, add the banana slices and the remaining water. Stir well and caramelize the fruit well, flipping the banana slices to have caramelization on both sides.
Put the caramelized fruit in a bowl with its caramel, with this delicious fruit you can decorate banana pancakes or use it cold to decorate a nice ice cream sundae.
Tips:
The result of this preparation is very sweet, so we recommend not adding much sugar to the preparation you need to decorate. For example, when we make banana pancakes, we do not add sugar to the batter because we use this fruit as decoration and accompaniment.
