Ingredients for Coffee Dessert with Puff Pastries:

  • 2 espresso cups espresso coffee (at room temperature)
  • 3.5 oz condensed milk
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 7 oz puff pastry sheets
  • 2 tbsp dark chocolate flakes
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp almond flakes
  • as needed espresso coffee

Tools for Coffee Dessert with Glazed Puff Pastries:

  • 2 Bowls
  • 1 Electric Whisk
  • 1 Baking Dish

Steps to Prepare the Coffee Dessert with Puff Pastries or Millefoglie:

  • In a bowl, put the condensed milk, then add the coffee (at room temperature) and mix well.

In another large bowl, put the heavy cream (we used the classic unsweetened one, you can also use the pre-sweetened one, in this case the dessert will have an even more intense and sweet flavor) and start whipping it with the electric whisk. When it starts to thicken, add the condensed milk with the previously prepared coffee.

  • Whip the mixture until it’s nice and fluffy and firm.

Put the espresso coffee in a bowl (about 3 cups), we recommend not sweetening it otherwise the flavor of the dessert would become too cloying.

Take a baking dish about 7×7 inches, make a thin layer of cream, then dip the puff pastries in the coffee and place them in the baking dish, make a layer of cream and level it well with a spatula, add the dark chocolate, chocolate chips, and almond flakes.

Make another layer of puff pastries and then add the remaining cream, leveling it well.

Crumble the puff pastries you have left (just 2/3 are enough) and coarsely crumble them over the dessert, finish with dark chocolate flakes, chocolate chips, and almond flakes.

  • Your dessert is ready, we recommend keeping it in the fridge for a couple of hours before consuming it so as to obtain a cream very similar to a semifreddo.

Notes:

We decorated the various layers of the dessert with dark chocolate, chocolate chips, and almonds, but you can also use other ingredients to your liking or make a simpler dessert and simply add a sprinkle of unsweetened cocoa powder.
