French Fries in the Multicooker

French fries in the multicooker, a real treat for the palate, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, ready in no time.

For cooking, we used the Cecotec Olla electric pot with the frying function, and were very satisfied with the result.

Ingredients for French Fries in the Multicooker:

  • 4 large potatoes
  • to taste frying oil
  • to taste fine salt

Tools for French Fries in the Multicooker:

  • 1 multicooker
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Plate

Steps for Preparing and Cooking French Fries in the Multicooker:

  • Peel the potatoes then cut them into sticks; you can use the vegetable cutter, which is very useful because you place a whole potato on the steel grid and then cover it with the plastic part and press, and the potatoes come out ready in sticks, or you can cut the potatoes into 1/4 inch thick slices and then each slice into 1/4 inch thick strips.

In a bowl, place the cut potatoes, cover with cold water and let them rest for 30 minutes, then rinse them well and let them dry on a cotton cloth.

  • In the multicooker, place the frying basket, then add frying oil which should be at LEAST to halfway up the basket, then turn on the pot and set the FRY program and set the temperature to 356°F for 13 minutes.

    No lid is needed.

When the oil is up to temperature (you’ll know because the pot starts the countdown for cooking), put in all the fries and cook them, shaking the basket occasionally.

Be careful, the basket has a handle; do not let it touch the pot’s basket because you might burn yourself as it gets very hot.

  • Once the time is up, turn off the pot and lift the basket to drain the excess oil, place the fries on a plate with absorbent paper to drain them well, then transfer them to a serving plate and add salt.

Now your french fries are ready.

  • If you don’t have a multicooker, you can cook the potatoes in a deep pan; to flavor them, you can also add a clove of garlic and cook them for about 20 minutes.

Advice

If you prefer more golden potatoes, cook them for a few more minutes.

The oil after cooking was still very clear, so we let it cool and put it in a bottle to reuse for the next frying.

You can use the multicooker for all types of frying, including battered foods.
