French toast roll ups with Nutella
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 6 Nutella roll ups
  • Cooking methods: Stove
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients for Nutella French Toast Roll Ups:

  • 6 slices white sandwich bread (crustless)
  • 6 tablespoons Nutella
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • 0.7 oz butter
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • as needed powdered sugar (for final decoration)
  • as needed Nutella (for final decoration)

Tools

  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Pan non-stick
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Plate

Preparation and cooking of Nutella French Toast Roll Ups:

  • Take the bread slices and flatten them well with a rolling pin.

Place a generous spoonful of Nutella on each slice, spread it well with a spatula, and roll it up tightly.

  • In a bowl, beat the room temperature egg with the milk and a pinch of salt.

  • Put the butter in a non-stick pan and heat it well. While the butter is hot, dip the Nutella French toast roll ups in the beaten egg and then cook them in the butter in the pan, turning on all sides (this should take about 3-4 minutes).

Place the Nutella French toast roll ups on a serving plate, dust with powdered sugar, and decorate with Nutella if desired.

  • As you’ve read, the preparation is very simple, but we assure you they are super delicious. If you want a lighter version suitable for children, follow the same preparation process but instead of frying, place them in an oven dish lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about ten minutes, turning them halfway through cooking.

Or you can cook them in an air fryer at 340°F for about 6 minutes, turning them halfway through if you don’t have a double-resistance fryer.

Remove them from the oven and dust with powdered sugar.

You can make your French toast roll up even more delicious by adding nuts or chocolate chips.

  • Can I use another type of spread instead of Nutella?

Absolutely! You can substitute Nutella with any spread: pistachio, peanut butter, jams, or even ricotta and chocolate chips.

  • What type of bread is best to use?

White sandwich bread (crustless) is ideal as it’s soft and easy to roll. Pan bread can also work if it’s soft enough.

  • How do I store them?

If you have leftovers, you can store them in the fridge for a day and reheat them in a pan or oven. Avoid the microwave: they may become soggy.
