  • 3 tablespoons orange marmalade
  • 3 tablespoons mixed candied fruits
  • 3 tablespoons sultana raisins
  • to taste milk
  • to taste sugar sprinkles
  • to taste powdered sugar

  • 1 Baking Tray non-stick
  • 1 Oven de longhi
  • 1 Knife

Steps for Preparing and Cooking Orange and Candied Fruit Puff Pastry Breadsticks:

  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet and spread the bitter orange marmalade on half of the pastry, add the candied fruits and sultana raisins (previously soaked in warm, not boiling water for 10 minutes, or you can add rum for a more intense flavor, as we did, once softened, dry them well).

  • Fold the other unfilled half over, like a book, and press lightly with your hands or a rolling pin to seal.

Cut the pastry into strips about 0.6 inches wide.
Roll each strip over itself to form the breadsticks.

Place the breadsticks on a non-stick baking tray and brush them with a bit of milk and add the sugar sprinkles.

If using an air fryer, place them directly on the grate.

  • Bake:

In a traditional oven: bake at 356°F for 15–18 minutes, until golden.
In an air fryer: cook at 338°F for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway through if needed, until well browned and crispy.

Before serving, sprinkle them with powdered sugar.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • Can I use a different marmalade?

Of course! Apricot, peach, or cherry preserves work well too. Choose one that’s not too runny to prevent it from leaking out during baking.

  • Can I add other ingredients?

Yes! You can enrich them with chocolate chips, almond or hazelnut granules, or a pinch of cinnamon for a more intense aroma.

  • Can they be cooked in advance and reheated?

Absolutely yes. You can reheat them for 2–3 minutes in the air fryer at 302°F or in a static oven at 320°F to make them as crisp as freshly made.
