Apple-Filled Tart

in

The apple-filled tart is one of my favorite desserts. For the recipe, I used my classic buttery pastry. Desserts with apples taste like home and goodness; also try the apple tart with frangipane cream, the apple and amaretto cake, or the apple and carrot cake. Really easy and delicious desserts you absolutely must try.
The apple-filled tart is simple, genuine, and always manages to please everyone, both big and small. Just turn on the oven and the kitchen will fill with an enveloping aroma that immediately makes you want a slice… or maybe two.

The base is a crumbly pastry enclosing a soft and juicy filling of apples, sugar, and spices. The apples become creamy and sweet during baking, creating the perfect contrast. It’s the ideal dessert for breakfast, snack time, or to be served at the end of a meal, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a generous sprinkle of powdered sugar and cinnamon.
It’s also an extremely versatile recipe, with a few more ingredients: like chocolate chips and other dried fruits or jam, it can transform each time into a different dessert without losing its simple and authentic character.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 310 g all-purpose flour
  • 130 g butter
  • as needed vanillin
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 apples
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 120 g raisins
  • as needed ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons apricot jam

How to Prepare the Apple-Filled Tart

  • In the bowl of the stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, vanillin, and eggs. Start the mixer and work for a few minutes, then add the butter cut into pieces, working the dough for a few more moments.

  • Once everything is compact, transfer to the work surface and knead until you get a soft and compact dough. Divide the dough in half and wrap them in plastic wrap, letting them rest for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

  • Meanwhile, cut the apples into cubes and place them in a pan with sugar, cinnamon, and a splash of lemon. Cook for 3-4 minutes, remove from heat and let cool.

  • Add the previously soaked raisins and mix.

  • After the resting time, take the dough from the fridge and roll it out with a rolling pin to create two thin sheets about 1-2 inches thick. Fill with a layer of jam and the previously seasoned apples.

  • Place the second disc of dough on top, sealing the edges and pricking the surface with the prongs of a fork.

  • Bake at 356°F for about 30-35 minutes.

  • Let it cool completely on a wire rack.

Storage of the Apple-Filled Tart

It can be stored at room temperature under a cake dome for up to 3-4 days.
