Ingredients
- 4 cups Manitoba flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 2 tsp salt
How to make balloon bread
Place the flour in a bowl along with the yeast and mix.
Then pour in the water and knead well until you form a loaf.
Let it rest in a bowl for 25-30 minutes covered with plastic wrap, preferably in the oven with the light on.
After the rest time, divide the dough into 10 balls of about 80 g each.
Roll all the balls with a rolling pin to a thickness of about 3/8 inch. Then let them rest for another 10 minutes.
Bake your balloon bread in the oven at 392°F until the bread puffs up and becomes golden, about 5-6 minutes.
Storage and tips for baked balloon bread
Baked balloon bread can be kept for one day at room temperature, covered with plastic wrap. An alternative cooking method could be to cook it in a non-stick pan at a fairly high temperature, without added fats.
