Mini Rice Timbales

Mini Rice Timbales, also known as small timbales, are a tasty and super easy dish to make! Single-serving portions, you prepare them in advance and cook them just before serving. For these timbales, you only need a few ingredients and they also cook quickly only 15 minutes. You can prepare the tomato sauce while the rice is cooking, but you can also opt for a meat sauce to further entice your guests!

  • 1 1/4 cups rice
  • 1 1/4 cups tomato purée
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste breadcrumbs
  • 4.2 oz mozzarella

How to Make Mini Rice Timbales

  • First, boil the rice in plenty of salted water. Meanwhile, prepare the tomato sauce:

  • In a pan, put the oil and garlic, sauté it, then pour in the tomato purée, adjust the salt, and season with basil. Cook for 5 minutes over medium-high heat.

  • Once the rice is cooked, add it to the pan with the tomato sauce, along with the grated Parmesan cheese.

  • Grease the molds and sprinkle them with breadcrumbs, fill them with the rice. Place a piece of mozzarella in the center of each mold and cover with more rice.

  • Top with a sprinkle of breadcrumbs and a drizzle of oil. Cook them in the air fryer at 356°F (180°C) for about 15 minutes.

  • Remove from the oven and serve hot and melty!

Storage and Tips for Mini Rice Timbales

Mini rice timbales can be stored in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap until the next day. You can also prepare the timbales without tomato sauce. The internal filling can be replaced with soft cheese, such as gorgonzola or scamorza. For a vegetarian version, add sautéed mushrooms.
