Ingredients

  • 4 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 5 egg yolks (3 oz)
  • 7 3/4 oz sugar
  • 1 roll puff pastry
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3 tbsps Nutella® (2 oz)
  • to taste vanilla flavor

Steps

  • In a saucepan, heat the milk with the cream (be careful not to boil). Meanwhile, in a bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar and vanilla flavor with a whisk.

  • Then add all the flours, i.e., the cornstarch and the all-purpose flour, and then pour in the hot milk.

  • Pour everything into a pot, heating over medium heat until it thickens.

  • You will need to achieve the same consistency as classic pastry cream, then add a couple of tablespoons of Nutella, stir, and let it cool.

  • At this point, unroll the puff pastry and line a 9-inch diameter springform pan with its parchment paper. Pour the cream inside and bake in a static oven for about 50 minutes at 340°F.

  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before slicing.

Storage and Tips for Nutella Flan

Nutella Flan can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days. You can also flavor the cream with grated orange zest. Instead of Nutella, you can use melted chocolate.
