Ingredients
- 2 rolls puff pastry
- 4.5 oz smoked salmon
- 1.4 oz spreadable cheese
- as needed sesame seeds
- as needed milk
How to make the Salmon Puff Pastry Sunburst
Take the first puff pastry disc and lay it on the oven tray, this way it will be easy to cook without having to transfer it again (not like I did in the photo).
Fill it with spreadable cheese like Philadelphia and salmon, leaving about half an inch free at the edge of the pastry.
Overlay the other disc on top of the first, then place a cup in the center, pressing slightly. With a sharp, smooth-bladed knife, divide the pastry into four equal parts, then divide each part again into four or at most six additional sections (in my case, I ended up with 19 sections).
Remove the cup from the center, take each ray and twist it on itself. Finally, brush with milk and decorate the center of the sunburst with sesame seeds. Bake at 375°F (190°C) in a fan setting for about 12-15 minutes.
Storage and tips for the Salmon Puff Pastry Sunburst
It can be stored in the fridge covered with plastic wrap until the next day. Alternatively, you can freeze it raw (already formed) and bake it directly from frozen, extending the cooking time by about 10 minutes.
