The savory puff pastry bunnies are a savory version of the Nutella puff pastry bunnies. They are one of those recipes I prepare when I want to bring something simple and pretty to the table. You can include them in the Easter menu, together with the Easter pie and the iconic Easter baskets. To make the savory bunnies you only need a few ingredients: a sheet of puff pastry, tomato paste, spices and olives.
They are served as an appetizer: crispy on the outside, tasty on the inside, and they literally disappear fast. The great thing about this recipe is that it can be customized in a thousand ways by changing the filling according to tastes or what’s in the fridge. I leave you some ideas, for example with basil pesto or with boiled potatoes and mozzarella.
They are perfect for sharing and also ideal to prepare in advance — in short, an easy, quick recipe that’s guaranteed to please! Don’t forget to follow me on my social channels so you don’t miss my latest news on Facebook Instagram and YouTube.

Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- to taste tomato paste
- 2 oz mozzarella (grated)
- to taste dried oregano
- 13 pcs green olives
How to make savory puff pastry bunnies
Begin by unrolling the puff pastry, then fill it with plenty of tomato paste, dried oregano and grated mozzarella.
Fold it in half over itself and, using a smooth-bladed knife, cut strips about 3/4 inch wide.
Take each strip and shape the bunnies by twisting the two ends of the strip, placing a green olive in the center.
Arrange all the bunnies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush with milk. Bake in a preheated oven at 374°F for about 12 minutes or until golden.
Storage and tips for savory puff pastry bunnies
You can prepare them well in advance and keep them in the refrigerator until baking time. I do not recommend freezing them; they should be consumed, at most, within two days of baking.
