Apple Puff Pastries

The apple puff pastries baked in the oven in just a few minutes are a simple, delicious, and impressive dessert, perfect for any occasion.

The combination of the slightly salty crispy puff pastry with the sweetness of apples, creates a truly irresistible contrast.

Ideal for a snack or a delightful dessert to enjoy at the end of lunch or with a steaming cup of tea, the apple puff pastries are made with just a few simple steps.

To make them truly irresistible, I recommend spreading a layer of jam or spread between the puff pastry and the apple slices; for example, I used pistachio spread and I must confess that the combination is truly intriguing.

So basically, the ingredients to prepare them are 4: apple, puff pastry, a pinch of sugar, and a personal choice of cream or jam.

Shall we see how to make them? I made 2 because I had already used the puff pastry for another recipe, but with one sheet of puff pastry, you can make at least 6 puff pastries.

Ingredients

For 2 puff pastries

  • Half apple
  • puff pastry
  • 2 teaspoons pistachio spread
  • granulated sugar

Tools

  • Parchment paper

Steps

You need 2 pastry cutters, one 3.5 inches and one 2.75 inches in diameter. For the leaves and stem, proceed freehand.

  • Cut the base of the apples with the larger pastry cutter.

  • Apply slight pressure with the smaller pastry cutter and make two small incisions.

  • Move the bases to a clean sheet of parchment paper placed on a baking tray. Place the stems on top of the apples in the center.

  • Apply the leaves and engrave the veins with the tip of a knife.

  • Spread a tablespoon of spread or jam in the center of the base.

  • Cut very thin apple slices and place them as shown in the photo, overlapping them in a fan shape.

  • Complete the apples by trying to achieve a harmonious result.

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F, sprinkle a little sugar over the surface of the puff pastries, and place in the fridge while the oven heats up. Bake for about 10/12 minutes. Serve hot or warm.

Tips:

When you buy puff pastry, do not use the sheet provided in the package during baking because it tends to burn easily due to moisture, releasing a bad smell.

Instead of puff pastry, you can also use shortcrust pastry.
