Super easy to make and perfect to gift or serve during the festive days, Christmas cocoa cookies!
Thanks to my tried and true recipe of cocoa shortcrust pastry, which I had in the freezer, as soon as I received my latest cookie cutter, I immediately found the time to bake these delightful little trees decorated with sugar and chocolate candies like smarties!
There’s not much to say about shortcrust pastry other than it holds its shape perfectly in the oven, making it ideal for this type of preparation.

Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 pinch baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup butter

Steps
To prepare the cocoa shortcrust pastry, you can read here:
– Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch and cut the dough with the cookie cutter.
– Place the little trees on a silicone mat or a baking tray lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
– Preheat the oven to 350°F
– Decorate the cookies with smarties by pressing them lightly and bake for about 12 minutes.
