This incredibly delicious Delicious Roll for Father’s Day is made with cigarette pastry and filled with a delightful Nutella mousse.
Even though we know the traditional and symbolic dessert for Father’s Day is the zeppola, sometimes it’s nice to change things up and give our beloved fathers different, celebratory sweets.
In this case, the dedication is truly special because, thanks to the cigarette pastry, we can personalize our dessert with the word dad or daddy… but it could also be pop, papa… etc.
In short, a very cute dessert with a wow effect and, above all, delicious thanks to the Nutella mousse I used to fill it; because it’s true that the dessert is dedicated to fathers, but it’s also true that children love Nutella!
I had already talked about cigarette pastry when I made the mimosa roll which drove you mad, and many of you remade it, so you already know that it’s a super easy and cute technique that allows us to personalize our desserts.
Let’s not get caught up in chatter and see how to bring to the table the delicious Delicious Roll for Father’s Day with Nutella mousse.

Ingredients
- 1 oz egg whites
- 1 oz butter (soft)
- 1 oz all-purpose flour
- 1 oz powdered sugar
- 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 large eggs (3 medium-sized)
- 1 tsp potato starch
- 2 1/2 oz all-purpose flour
- 2 2/3 oz granulated sugar
- vanilla (to taste)
- 1 cup cup heavy whipping cream
- 6 1/3 oz Nutella®
Tools
Rectangular baking pan about 12×9 inches
- 1 Piping bag
- 2 Parchment paper
Steps
– Mix the soft butter and powdered sugar in a bowl; add the egg whites and then the flour and cocoa, sifting directly into the bowl. Mix everything well.
– Put the mixture into a piping bag, cut the tip and squeeze directly onto the parchment paper to write or make other decorations. (also write in mirror image otherwise the writings will be read backward). Place the sheet on a tray that can go in the freezer. This step can also be done the day before and left in the freezer.
– Separate egg whites and yolks and whip them separately; first, the whites until stiff peaks, then the yolks with the sugar. Add the already sifted flour to the whipped yolks and, after incorporating it, gradually fold in the whipped egg whites.
– Pour the batter onto the frozen cigarette pastry, gently level it, and bake in a preheated oven at 340°F for about 10 minutes. Then flip the cooked sponge cake, gently remove the parchment paper, and roll it up with a clean sheet of parchment paper.
– Semi-whip the very cold cream in a bowl, then add the Nutella and finish whipping with the beaters.
– Gently unroll the cake, spread the mousse, level it, and close it back up in parchment paper. Refrigerate for at least a couple of hours.
Tips:
– The delicious roll for Father’s Day can be kept in the fridge for up to 4 days, covered in a cake container.
– The amount of cigarette pastry I provided might leave some leftover, depending on what you write or the decorations you use; in any case, if there’s any left, it can be frozen.
– For a nicer aesthetic result, trim the ends of the cake as they are uneven (but don’t throw them away; serve them anyway or eat them as a snack/breakfast).
