Ingredients

  • 2 apples
  • 2 rolls puff pastry
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (or regular brown)
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • 1 tbsp water
  • ground cinnamon
  • powdered sugar

Steps

  • Wash, peel, and dice the apples. Place them in a pan and season with brown sugar and ground cinnamon.

  • Add the tablespoon of water and cook the apples for about 10/15 minutes.

  • Add the pre-soaked and squeezed raisins, mix, and turn off the heat. (Find substitutions in the tips at the end of the recipe).

  • Unroll the puff pastry and, using a coffee plate or a small bowl, cut out shapes.

  • Make cuts on one side only, starting from the center of the circle but not reaching the edge.

  • Fold each circle in half with the cuts at the bottom.

  • Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of the half-moons and bring one flap to the center.

  • Close with the other flap.

  • With a slight pressure to adhere the puff pastry, seal the pastries well to prevent liquid from leaking during cooking. Preheat the oven to 350°F and place the tray in the fridge. As soon as the oven reaches the temperature, bake for about 18/20 minutes. (depends on the oven and size). Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar.

Tips:

The apple pastries remain perfectly crispy for a day, then obviously, due to the filling, they lose some crunchiness. They are excellent both hot and cold.

Variations:

Instead of raisins, you can add chopped walnuts or hazelnuts.

The amount of sugar can be increased to 2 tablespoons.

If desired, you can add a tablespoon of apricot jam together with the apples, eliminating the need for sugar.
