Quick Skillet Bread

The quick skillet bread, yeast-free and fast to make, is handy when you don’t have bread at home, and it’s too late to go to the bakery!

More of a flatbread than actual bread, it resembles a piadina, but it’s really convenient and perfect for accompanying cured meats and cheeses.. but it can also be spread with jams and creams.

The ingredients to make this quick skillet bread are really few. Moreover, it can be made with whole wheat, special, or regular flours.. basically whatever you have at home.. after all, it is an ’emergency’ bread and should be considered as such.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/3 cup water
  • fine salt

Steps

  • – Pour the flour into a bowl, add the yogurt and other ingredients and mix.

  • – Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured board and cut 5 pieces of about 3.5 oz each.

    – Shape each piece into a round form.

  • – Heat a lightly oiled skillet and cook each piece for 2 minutes on each side.

Variations:

To make this bread, you can also use all-purpose flour.
