The bread trees for sandwiches are a clever Christmas appetizer that is delicious, quick, very easy, tasty, and beautiful. I wanted to prepare some savory little trees that were a bit different from the usual, not the usual sandwiches like these ones, so I took a Christmas tree-shaped cutter and cut out some little trees. I had some sausages in the fridge and decided to use them as the trunk of the trees, added a small piece of cheese for a melty filling and thus the bread trees for sandwiches were ready, I garnished them with some Genovese pesto after cooking to color them green. Fabulous! The bread trees for sandwiches are made in 10 minutes and will disappear in a flash, they’ll be loved by both adults and children, they can’t be missing from your Christmas menu and holiday tables, you’ll make a great impression with little effort 😀

- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Winter
Ingredients
- 8.8 oz scamorza cheese
- 3.5 oz Genovese pesto
- 8 sausages
- 5 slices sandwich bread
Steps
The bread trees for sandwiches are super easy and quick to prepare, first take the slices of sandwich bread and with a Christmas tree-shaped cutter, cut out little trees, I got 6 per slice, try to optimize the spaces.
Cut the sausages in half lengthwise. Take a little tree, place half a sausage on top, in the center, add a small piece of cheese, and close with another bread tree, pressing down firmly.
Proceed in this way to make all the bread trees for sandwiches, arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake them in a preheated oven at 356 degrees Fahrenheit (180 Celsius) for 10 minutes.
After the cooking time has elapsed, remove the bread trees for sandwiches and brush the surface with some Genovese pesto, so they will turn a nice intense green. Finish the canapés by decorating them with a small star of cheese, placed as a topper.
Notes:
The bread trees for sandwiches can be kept at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days.
