Cereal chocolates are super quick and delicious treats that can be prepared in just a few minutes with only 2 ingredients, puffed rice and chocolate. They are very similar to the famous cereal chocolates, and I wanted to make them at home in a quick and smart way. They are so good, I don’t buy them anymore! Cereal chocolates are cooked in an air fryer (but also in the oven, if you don’t have an air fryer) and are crunchy and super chocolatey, they keep for a long time and are perfect as a snack, it’s an easy, quick, and clever recipe that will also be loved by the little ones!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 8-9 inch pan
- Cooking methods: Oven, Air Fryer, Electric Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 7 oz milk chocolate
- 7 oz white chocolate
- 2.3 cups puffed rice
Steps
Cereal chocolates are very simple and quick to prepare. First, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper, place the puffed rice, and toast it by cooking at 356°F (180°C) for 5 minutes (if you can adjust the fan speed, keep it low, so the puffed rice doesn’t “fly” :D, if not, it’s not a problem).
Place the chocolate bars over the puffed rice and bake at 167°F (75°C) for 10 minutes, the chocolate will melt perfectly. At this point, with a toothpick, “move” the chocolate to create a marbled effect, distributing it evenly over the puffed rice.
Let the dessert cool completely at room temperature (or in the fridge if you want to speed things up) and then break it into pieces, thus obtaining the cereal chocolates.
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can make the cereal chocolates in the oven, just line a baking pan with parchment paper (8-9 inches), toast the puffed rice at 356°F (180°C) for 7-8 minutes, place the chocolate and bake at 167°F (75°C) for 10-12 minutes.
Tips:
Cereal chocolates can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 weeks. You can also use dark chocolate or just one type of chocolate if you prefer. Toasting the puffed rice is not mandatory, but I recommend it to make it crunchy and not soggy.
