The chocolate pear cake is a quick and clever dessert that can be prepared in just a few minutes without an oven and with only 2 ingredients, pears and dark chocolate. With this heat, we crave fresh and light desserts (but it is still a perfect dessert for all year round), and with the pears we picked in the countryside, I made this delicious and super chocolaty cake. The fruit is there but you can’t see it! The chocolate pear cake is fragrant and creamy, perfect at the end of a meal, as a snack or treat, it’s really special!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Rest time: 2 Hours
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 8-inch pan
- Cooking methods: Stovetop
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 2 cups pears (already peeled)
- 9 oz dark chocolate
- to taste unsweetened cocoa for garnish
Steps
The chocolate pear cake is very simple and quick to prepare. First, peel the pears, cut them into small pieces, and boil them in water for about ten minutes.
Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie or microwave. Drain the pears well and mix them with the chocolate, using an immersion blender, until you get a smooth and homogeneous mixture.
Transfer the mixture to a baking pan lined with parchment paper and place it in the fridge. Let the chocolate pear cake rest for at least a couple of hours, so it sets well.
After the resting time, carefully remove the chocolate pear cake from the mold and garnish it with a dusting of cocoa and, if you like, with slices of pears and pieces/shavings of chocolate.
Advice:
The chocolate pear cake keeps in the fridge for 4/5 days. Use ripe pears to get a sweeter dessert (since there is no sugar and we use dark chocolate). You can also store the cake in the freezer to enjoy it as a sort of “ice cream”.
