Christmas Spritz

in ,

The Christmas spritz is a quick and very easy Christmas recipe, a festive cocktail that you absolutely must prepare. It’s spritz mania, everyone is having aperitifs with friends and, for these holidays, I thought of dressing the spritz with Christmas spirit by adding an ingredient that is never missing during this time, (the pomegranate (or rather, the pomegranate :D). Can I say I like it more than the original? The Christmas spritz is fragrant and really delicious, as they say in Sicily “cala sulu sulu”, which means it’s very easy to drink, but be careful not to overdo it because it is still alcoholic, although a bit less strong than the classic one! Try it for the Christmas Eve appetizer and dinner, but also to toast the new year, parties, dinners, appetizers, aperitifs, buffets, every occasion will be the right one to enjoy this delicious Christmas spritz!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 People
  • Cooking methods: No cooking
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas, New Year's

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups prosecco
  • 1 cup aperol
  • 4 oz soda
  • 4 oz pomegranate juice
  • 1 orange
  • as needed pomegranate seeds

Steps

  • The Christmas spritz is very easy and super quick to prepare. First, peel the orange and slice it. Deseed the pomegranates and extract the juice, I used a juicer, if you don’t have one you can use a centrifuge, a blender (and then strain the juice) or a classic citrus juicer.

  • In a pitcher, put the prosecco, aperol, soda, and pomegranate juice and give it a good stir.

  • Finish the Christmas spritz by adding a few slices of orange and some pomegranate seeds (I froze them to have them nice and icy).

Tips:

I don’t recommend preparing the Christmas spritz in advance, it should be made and consumed immediately, it really takes just two minutes to make. Slice the oranges and freeze the pomegranate seeds a few hours before. You can replace the aperol with Campari or a non-alcoholic bitter. The soda can be replaced with seltzer or sparkling water.
