Cinnamon Wreath

in

The cinnamon wreath made with puff pastry is an easy, quick, and very fragrant Christmas sweet crown. I had a roll of puff pastry to use up and in less than 10 minutes, I made a delightful and delicious treat that smells like Christmas. To make it even more delicious (like the famous cinnamon rolls, cinnamon-filled brioches), I garnished the cinnamon wreath with a vanilla sugar glaze, without egg whites. Prepare this sweet treat during the holiday season, it will be a hit, perfect for breakfast, snack, or dessert!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economic
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: one cinnamon wreath
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Winter

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp water (1 tablespoon)
  • to taste vanilla

Steps

  • The puff pastry cinnamon wreath is super easy and quick to prepare, first put the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and mix.

  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet and brush the entire surface with the melted butter. Place the sugar and cinnamon mix on top and distribute it evenly over the pastry.

  • Starting from the longer side and using the underlying parchment paper to help, roll the pastry, forming a roll, cut it into 10 small pieces, without separating them, leaving them attached only at the top side of the pastry.

  • Bend the pastry to form a circle, join the ends and place a cup or oven-safe bowl in the center, just to maintain the shape while baking, then turn the rolls upwards.

  • Bake the cinnamon wreath in a preheated oven at 392°F (200°C) for 20 minutes. Prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar with water and a bit of vanilla. Remove the dessert from the oven and garnish it, still warm, with the freshly prepared glaze. You can use a teaspoon to distribute it over the dessert, leaving it messy in a warm manner.

  • You can enjoy the cinnamon wreath immediately if you like the glaze soft and creamy, or let it cool if you prefer it more “solid”.

Notes:

The cinnamon wreath keeps at room temperature for 3-4 days. If you don’t want to add vanilla to the glaze, you can omit it without any problems, you can also add a pinch of cinnamon to make it even more fragrant. If you don’t want to add glaze, use simple powdered sugar, you can also add a bit of ground cinnamon.
